Academic Integrity

Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI) is responsible for assisting with the promotion of academic integrity and the prevention of academic misconduct.  Through partnerships with faculty, instructors, administrators, staff, and students, we are dedicated to maintaining classrooms and a campus of integrity.

UCF is an Institutional Member with the International Center for Academic Integrity (ICAI) https://academicintegrity.org/.  “ICAI defines academic integrity as a commitment to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage. By embracing these fundamental values, instructors, students, staff, and administrators create effective scholarly communities where integrity is a touchstone. Without them, the work of teachers, learners, and researchers loses value and credibility. More than merely abstract principles, the fundamental values serve to inform and improve ethical decision-making capacities and behavior. They enable academic communities to translate ideals into action.” The Fundamental Values of Academic Integrity.  3rd edition page 4.  https://academicintegrity.org/images/pdfs/20019_ICAI-Fundamental-Values_R12.pdf

Report Academic Misconduct

When an instructor becomes aware of an alleged violation of student academic behavior standards and before any academic action is taken, the instructor must decide if the behavior warrants formal documentation through the Alleged Academic Misconduct Report (AAMR) Form by identifying the alleged misconduct violations and proposing course sanctions.

Z Designation for Academic Misconduct

A Z designation denotes a student was found “in violation” of academic misconduct while enrolled in a course. A Z designation does not affect a student’s grade point average. For More Information on the Z Designation, you can download the Golden Rule at http://goldenrule.sdes.ucf.edu/ (UCF-5.015 Student Academic Behavior Standards) to view the Z designation policy.

Golden Rule Student Handbook

The Golden Rule Student Handbook is a compilation of polices and procedures from different university areas intended to define the rights and responsibilities afforded to students and provide a better understanding of each student's role as a member of the UCF community.
